Along with individual awards earned at National Mathematics Pentathlon Academic Tournaments, the Pentathlon Institute honors Pentathletes who, in 7th grade, have competed for 7 or 8 years. These Pentathletes have earned this special recognition for their determination and long-term involvement in competing at all 4 Mathematics Pentathlon® Division Levels and being PentathletesTM playing all 20 Mathematics Pentathlon® Games. We honor the PentathletesTM in this section. The history behind the 7 & 8-year awards was to recognize, in 7th grade, only those students who have competed across 4 Divisions for 7 or 8 years. The award is given in 7th grade to ensure the Pentathlete reached the highest level of competition. This is the only way a student can receive the plaque or trophy. The school can recognize students in different ways, but nationally, these are the guidelines to receive a 7/8-year award.
