TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEER TRAINING

Make sure to register for a free Volunteer Training in your area if your child or students are attending a National Mathematics Pentathlon^® Tournaments. Volunteers are essential to ensure each Pentathlon game is properly officiated. During the training sessions adults will receive vital information and updates on volunteering at tournaments. Teachers, parents, and administrative representatives from all involved schools are REQUIRED to send a minimum of 1 adult volunteer for every 2 students participating in touranments. We ask your support by attending a Volunteer Training and supervising five rounds of the same Math Pentathlon^® game during touranment play.

Students who have become proficient at the games and are familiar with many game strategies may wish to test their problem-solving abilities with students from other schools in a National Mathematics Pentathlon^® Tournament. If students wish to participate in a national competition, they need to be very knowledgeable of the procedures and rules which govern such competitions. To prepare students for this level of involvement, teachers, coaches and parents assist students in: refining their game strategies, orienting them to the procedural and challenge rules within each game, and having them practice the games on a one-on-one basis. Students and their families must formally register for the National Mathematics Pentathlon Tournament in their area and make arrangements to attend one of the tournaments at a designated site. At a national tournament each participant is matched with a different player for each of the five games in the appropriate division (grade level).
